Street Science

From Artificial Intelligence to Zoology, working scientists are bringing science to a street near you. This show talks about science topics and their relevance to our everyday lives in a language that is understandable to the person on the street. Fascinating discussions are delivered along with ‘hot-off-the-press’ science news and a curious selection of the favourite music of scientists.

Presenters

  • Producer / Presenter: Charles Ampomah-Dwamena

    Charles Ampomah-Dwamena,  Executive member of the NZ Ghanaian Association, was a key player in establishing Radio Akwaaba.  He doubles as producer and presenter aiming for education, information and participation. Charles is a scientist at a Research company and loves being involved in the community.

  • Presenter: Andrew Dare

    Andrew has a PhD in molecular biology and started his career working in molecular haematology nearly 20 years before branching out into plant research now focussing on compounds in fruit with health properties. When not in the lab, the Future Intech science ambassador who works at the Mt Albert Research Centre is often sailing. Andrew is also a keen soccer fan and self-confessed cricket tragic.

  • Presenter: Blue Plunkett

    Blue is a Master of Science working as a Research Associate in the Molecular Biology Lab at the Mt Albert Research Centre. His focus is on how plant DNA is controlled and the development of new plants with greater human health benefits. Keen to communicate ideas of interest to all, Blue studies a wide range of science topics, including areas that have disruptive impacts on humans’ ‘business as usual’ behaviour.

Three cool scientists talk hot topics in science

Fascinating developments in science in language we can all understand. Science topics that are relevant to our daily lives are explored with humour and expertise along with a curious selection of music.

Presenters
